Lake therapy

I borrowed the sweetest book from the library for my kids, a collection of poetry about the four seasons. A particular poem got stuck in my head and as we stood by the lake yesterday I kept on reciting quietly "Winter is dead, winter is dead". The ice on the lake is melting and I saw my first butterfly this weekend, a Small Tortoiseshell . Yes, winter is indeed dead, hurray for spring!

Daffodowndilly (A.A Milne)

She wore her yellow sun-bonnet,
She wore her greenest gown;
She turned to the south wind
And curtsied up and down.
She turned to the sunlight
And shook her yellow head,
And whispered to her neighbour:
"Winter is dead".

  1. Finally I am stopping by your little corner of the world :) I hope you are feeling better from the nasty colds. We had terrible round of stomach flu just before Christmas and I wanted to die. The only one who didn't get sick was my oldest and he literally sat and watched movies for a whole 24 hours since we others were so poorly. He was very happy about this :)
    And I LOVE the shawl! Did she like it? Knitting shawls is addictive, I find it soothing and it is such a nice piece of clothing to wear, kind of old fashioned.
    And please share your cookie recipe, they look fantastic. I am always looking for cookie recipes. Hope you have a great week and that you are settling down into your temporally new home.

  2. Oh and I sure hope winter will soon be dead around here, I´m kind of sick and tired of all this snow! Lovely poem I will write it down in my journal.

  3. Always happy with a visit from you, Victoria!

    The kids teacher loved the shawl, so I was happy I had poured my time into making it. We are thankfully almost in the clear with our illnesses, my girl still has a runny nose and cough but is running around like a maniac anyway.

    I'll send you a message with the cookie recipe, they are really as good as they look. That batch I baked is gone, we'll just pretend it was the kids that ate it *ahem* ;) Have a lovely weekend!!!
